York is made up of a diverse culture. In the 2010 Census, there were over 43,000 residents. The largest increase in the population took place between the years of 1890 and 1900. The median age for the town is around 31 years old. There are about 93 men for every 100 women. The median family income was over $30,000 a year. The population is made up of 59% white, less than 1% Native American, 1.4% Asian, and 25% African American. 30% of the 16,000 households have children in the home. 20% of the population is made up of single women. The population in York is more diverse than many other cities and there is plenty to do for everyone.

SATURDAY SUNDAY SPEED SHOW AT THE YORK PA FAIR

YORK, PA - The Pennsylvania fair harness racing circuit checked into this southcentral Pennsylvania town for a weekend of sulky sport on Saturday and Sunday - and emerged with all eight of its season's records for the Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes rewritten. Another horse, the Lear Jetta mare Knuckle Up, rewrote a line in the all-time York annals when she won a free-for-all trot in 2:02 for trainer/driver Pete Kaiser, co-owner with Ronde Dalton. The previous local standard for older trotting mares was 2:04.4, set by Keystone Call Girl a dozen years ago. Read more here
Harness racing is a unique sport that rolled into York, Pennsylvania and managed to get all of its records for the entire season while in town. Many records were set by many horses. Young and elders alike were able to come out and enjoy the show. One of the racers, a man named Done Wiest, is an 87- year old man that guided his horse to victory on the track. The horses and trainers performed there best and set record times, some beating out older times set on the track in their division. It was an experience that many are glad they didn’t miss.
